My father did not understand us buying a side of beef earlier this year. "Why not just go to Costco?" Sigh. Something tells me even the supposedly all-holy Costco may not even be above this... and how someone can think a local, organic, small-scale-operation, pastured beef is below Costco (and cheaper too!!!)... I don't know. But, I mentioned the "pink slime" issue to him yesterday, and his response? "Well, it's not in the beef we eat." Um.... HOW DO YOU KNOW!? I bang my head against the wall.
All you can do Jessika is mention it, one day we will on be on board. We have been buying beef from our High School's Ag club. It is delicious pasture beef at a great price.
So gross indeed. I have been researching all the meat we eat in the last two years and it has made such a difference in our diets.
ReplyDeleteI agree - knowing where meat comes from has really, really changed our eating habits. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteWe buy our meat direct from a local rancher. I can't imagine buying meat from a chain anymore.
