Tis the Season - Sooper Jo Gift Ideas

Tis the season for getting gifts for friends and family. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the thought of getting "perfect" gifts for people. I personally, would love someone to just send me a link to what they want and I will happily get them what they want. :) But that is just me.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I love to cook. The following are some of my favorite Go-To kitchen items perfect for the beginner cook or someone a little more advanced.
I received this lidded Calphalon hard- anodized pan about 8 years ago from my aunts. I probably use it 5 times a week. It can go on the stove and in the oven. It only gets better with age.

A really good knife makes cooking easier. I love Japanese style knives, this Calphalon 7 inch is a great find! It is not expensive, but has kept a sharp edge for years.

OXO Salad Spinner

A good set of tongs

Any of the above combined with a great bottle of olive oil, some smoked paprika, or a jar of great salt would make a great gift basket.

I am also a huge fan of making gifts. Pickles, jams, or handmade napkins aren't expensive and (generally) make people happy. It has been a rough year for a lot of folks. A gift certificate for a home-cooked meal would make loved ones feel the love.

Still need ideas? Check out my etsy shop for holiday ornaments or brooches. Looking for jewelery? My dear friend, Amy Wing, makes one-of-a-kind handcrafted silver and gold jewelery here in Portland, Oregon. Check her out, her artwork is unique and beautiful! If you live in town, Amy is often at the Portland Saturday Market.

  2. I have that same pan, Jo, and I love it. It's one of the few that can be used for stove to table service. All of your gift ideas are terrific.
